FRANKFORT, KY - The Kentucky Arts Council will host a number of activities and meetings for artists and arts leaders on February 10, 2010, in Frankfort.

The council's board of directors will sponsor a reception for arts leaders, artists, educators and elected officials to celebrate the arts in Kentucky and recognize the work of the Kentucky Arts Council. The reception is at 5 p.m. EST at the Berry Hill Mansion, 700 Louisville Road, Frankfort, KY, and is open to the public.

Earlier in the day, the Kentucky Arts Council has arranged for representatives from Kentucky Arts Partnership grantee organizations to meet their legislators and receive ceremonial grant checks in the Capitol Rotunda.

In the afternoon, the recipients of the 2009 Governor's Awards in the Arts will be introduced in the House and Senate chambers and recognized for their achievements in the arts and their contributions to Kentucky.

The Kentucky Arts Council will also convene a series of meetings for Kentucky Arts Partnership organizations. Executive directors and board members of these groups will meet with arts council staff to develop strategies and plan partnerships for more efficient delivery of the arts in Kentucky. Kentucky Arts Partnership education directors and teaching artists from the council's Arts Education Roster will network and share ideas for increasing arts education opportunities in Kentucky schools.

The Kentucky Arts Council, the state arts agency, creates opportunities for Kentuckians to value, participate in and benefit from the arts. Kentucky Arts Council funding is provided by the Kentucky General Assembly and the National Endowment for the Arts.
