NJ personal trainer and renowned fitness expert, Edward Albert, is sharing his customized weight loss plans for sustained weight loss. Albert puts his clients on a regimented plan of 5 meals a day for 4 weeks to show them the benefits of proper and regular eating.
Albert explains that eating 5 small meals each day can kick-start lethargic metabolisms, increasing the body’s Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR), which is the amount of calories one burns in a given day just by being alive. Albert says to think of your metabolism like a wood burning fire. “If you keep throwing in small pieces of wood every few hours, the fire will burn fast and strong. The less frequently you throw in the wood, the fire begins to dim and burn very slowly.”
Those who come to Albert to lose weight and shape up begin a strength training program of 2 half hour sessions each week along with cardiovascular schedules and a 5 a day meal plan. Below, Albert gives an example of a typical daily diet his clients follow.
• Breakfast 7am: 1 cup Kashi Go Lean cereal with fat free milk
• Snack: 10am: Small apple with handful of walnuts
• Lunch: 1pm: Scoop of tuna mixed with fat free mayo with slices of tomato, celery and cucumber for dipping
• Snack: 4pm: 3 slices of low sodium turkey cold cuts rolled up with 3 slices low sodium, low fat Alpine Lace Swiss cheese.
• Dinner: 6-7pm: Chicken breast cooked on a George Foreman grill, green vegetable of choice (steamed no butter), side salad with low-fat dressing
Albert also recommends drinking a large glass of water with each meal and snack. Many of his clients often say they feel like they are actually eating too much, a stark comparison to the deprivation traditional dieters feel.
Anyone looking to kick-start their weight loss should first consult their physician before making changes to their diet and exercise plans. Edward Albert can be reached for personal training and diet inquiries at njfitnessexpert@
