The Yonkers Downtown Waterfront Business Improvement District and the Yonkers Riverfront Library will present “The Heart of Yonkers,” a series of popular romantic films that will be screened for free at the library located at One Larkin Plaza throughout February in celebration of Valentine’s Day.
The romantic-themed movies will be shown from 6 to 8 PM every Thursday night as follows:
Moonstruck (PG)
February 4

Chocolat (PG-13)

“The Heart of Yonkers” is part of the Yonkers BID’s campaign to promote the downtown as a romantic destination throughout February. Plans call for the BID to again decorate the streets with hundreds of red balloons to welcome shoppers and residents. It will also promote the special offerings from participating merchants and restaurants for such items as flowers, jewelry, candy, dining and a host of other gift ideas.
The BID will communicate the merchants’ special offerings in an e-blast that will reach thousands of potential customers and through its website, www.yonkersdowntown.com. In addition, the BID will encourage merchants to join in decorating their storefronts with red hearts and other themed signage to promote their merchandise.

The Yonkers Downtown/Waterfront Business Improvement District was created to promote and implement the economic revitalization of the District and the City of Yonkers. The BID is also designed to maintain the downtown streets, contribute to public safety, landscape the district, market special events and create promotional opportunities to highlight the area. Additionally, the BID will preserve and encourage the cultural, historic, tourist and civic interest of the District and the City of Yonkers.
