Jan. 28, 2010 - PRLog -- A new Facebook group hopes to make The Smiths - "How Soon Is Now?" the UK No 1 the 2nd week of Feb 2010 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the classic album Meat Is Murder and block Simon Cowell's Jedward debut single at the same time.

The group has attracted 12,000 fans in a few days and continues to grow. It started off as fans of The Smiths but is now attracting music fans who are sick of Simon Cowell's ongoing domination of the charts. They have already beaten a group promoting Girl's Aloud and are now in direct competition with JEDWARD.

The groups page says..

"Let's put real music back in the headlines and celebrate one of the UK's greatest bands ever."

If the campaign succeeds it will be the second time Simon Cowell will have been beaten to the top spot by a group of music fans with a marketing budget of zero. A No.1 in Feb can be achieved with as little as 30,000 sales so if the group continues to grow it is possible.

The group is promoting itself by Facebook, Twitter and Youtube.
