Charles A. Vogel was born Springfield, Missouri in 1941. As a young boy he idolized his grandfather Dr. Charles B. Holt, a practicing dentist. Vogel’s formative educational years were at Sunshine and Delaware Elementary schools, and Jarrett Jr. High in Springfield, MO. He graduated from Parkview High School in 1959 and went on to attend Drury College for his undergraduate work. Vogel would then move onto the University of Missouri at Kansas City’s School of Dentistry (UMKC) to study to become a dentist.

Known as a futurist in the dental community, Vogel expanded his dental interests further to meet the growing desire for finer cosmetic dentistry. However, he also saw a trend that was discouraging to him. At that time, the TV series “Extreme Make-Over” was highly popular. He saw people risking healthy teeth by having them cut away for veneers. When in reality, all they needed was teeth straightening and bleaching – simply because they wanted a quick fix. These adults did not want years of braces as they had endured or saw their teenagers enduring. Yet, they did not understand how many of these quick dental fixes were causing accelerated wear and tear with teeth grinding and irreversible damage to perfectly healthy teeth.
Thus, Vogel integrated PowerProx® 6-Month Braces and, more recently, Invisalign® Invisible Braces into his repertoire of beautiful smiles. This part of dentistry is so enjoyable to Dr. Vogel that he now chooses to do only Adult Orthodontics as a dentist at A Beautiful Smile, 1335 East Independence, Springfield, MO.
