By: Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce The Taste of Southern Ocean Hunger Relief Dinner is organized by a group of dedicated business and community members whose main focus is raising money and awareness for the seven food pantries located in Lacey Township, Waretown, Manahawkin, Barnegat, Tuckerton and Long Beach Island. Last year the event, with the help of Atlantic City Electric's Charitable Golf Outing, raised a record $52000 and much needed support to local pantries. "The demand to provide meals for families continue to increase", states Taylor "It is imperative that the Taste dinner is successful and we raise the contribution in 2010". Businesses and the community are urged to consider sponsoring at one of the many levels, donating to the auction, taking an ad in the journal or attending the dinner that will be held at the Sea Oaks Country Club. The ticket price remains the same as 2009 at $125 per person and includes an evening of culinary masterpieces inspired and prepared by a number of talented chefs. This year's theme “A Night Aboard the Orient Express” will feature the design of artist Paul Daukas whose work was chosen from entries of the recent art contest held by the Taste Committee. The original artwork will be auctioned off during the night’s festivities. In addition to food, good will is also served through a silent and live auction. The gift donations have started coming in which span from the practical to the luxurious; such as home improvement services, sports memorabilia, dine around opportunities, unique gift baskets and golf foursomes.
