Pawan Hans Helicopters Ltd. (PHHL), the national helicopter company of India was incorporated in 1985 with 78.5% shareholding of the Government of India and 21.5% of ONGC. Pawan Hans is India’s largest helicopter operator with a well-balanced fleet of 36 helicopters.The company has been maintaining excellent financial results every year. Pawan Hans has witnessed significant progress in its performance during 2006-07 to 2008-09, which saw the company’s fleet serviceability increase from 66% to 80% resulting in highest ever deployment and utilization of helicopters and growth in Pawan Hans’s operating revenue. In another first for India, Pawan Hans deployed one Bell 206L4 helicopter for hotline washing of insulators of transmission lines for Power Grid Corporation Ltd. In addition to this, Pawan Hans operates and maintains the Dauphin N3 helicopter owned by the Government of Gujarat and the Dauphin N owned by the Government of Bihar.
Pawan Hans has deployed Bell helicopters for regular passenger flights to Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine. During yatra season (May-June & Sept.-Oct.) the company operates regular passenger flights to Kedarnath Shrine from Augustmuni/Phata and also provides passenger services to Shri Amarnath Dham during yatra season.
Pawan Hans’s customers have time and again reposed their faith in the company’s qualified pilots and maintenance engineers/technicians who ensure secure operations, by taking every security measure possible. Pawan Hans runs a DGCA approved training school for the technical personnel with simulators installed at Delhi and Mumbai to provide periodic instrument training to the pilots.
Pawan Hans has its own in-house maintenance and repair facilities for different types of helicopters. These cover - instruments, electrical, safety equipment, synthetic panel, component repair shop, Spectrometric Oil Analysis Procedure Lab and radio including Full Test Data checks - at Mumbai. At the same time, all periodic inspections as well as overhaul is also carried out in-house by Pawan Hans. The company is an approved Maintenance Centre to carry out servicing of the Dauphin series helicopters and is part of the Eurocopter Network of Authorized Maintenance Centre (AMC) worldwide to carry out the servicing in India and other South East Asian Countries.
