Giving insight on how and why some unemployed Americans are able to make a new career out of their hobbies, Cristin Frank, The Enterprising Entrepreneur and host of Biz Court: Is It a Business or a Hobby, reveals the secret of “deciding.”
While many hobbyists are making products and honing skills for their personal fulfillment, those who have decided to take their passion into business are finding the resources to bring their talent to the public.
Frank advises, “Hobbies get recognition from friends and family. Businesses build ladders to the public. Get off your country road of friends and family, and get on the highway. But, before taking steps to make your hobby (passion) a business, ask yourself the below questions:
1. Can I do this under pressure? The business world has deadlines.
2. What is your attitude toward hurtles? Certifications or special requirements your business needs cannot be immediately met with "screw that!"
3. Are you thinking of mass appeal? You're not just making what you like; you have to be thinking about accommodating others needs.
4. Can you evolve in this field? You must be able to step out of your comfort zone.
