Jan. 28, 2010 - PRLog -- Argyll are delivering a contract for more than sixteen hundred Identicom devices aimed at NHS lone workers operating in the South of Tyne and Wear area. This contract represents the largest deployment of Lone Worker devices and services within the NHS to date.

NHS South of Tyne and Wear Gateshead, South Tyneside Primary Care Trusts and Sunderland Teaching Primary Care Trust are managed by an Integrated Board comprising a Chair and Non Executive Directors from each PCT area, the Executive Directors of NHS South of Tyne and Wear and the Chair of the Clinical Executive. The board oversees the work of the PCTs to ensure they operate with openness, integrity and accountability in the delivery of their aims whilst securing value for money. Members of the Integrated Board share corporate responsibility for all Board decisions.

NHS South of Tyne and Wear work closely with local hospitals, social services and other healthcare providers, such as local GPs, dentists, optometrists and pharmacists, to ensure local people receive high quality, integrated health services where and when they are required. This means understanding the health needs of the population and commissioning services in line with these needs.

NHS South of Tyne and Wear have many frontline staff who provide care directly to patients, many operating as a lone worker within the local community. In recognising the risks faced by frontline lone worker staff and in pursuit of their duty of care, NHS South of Tyne & Wear have placed their reliance for staff safety with Argyll.  Staff members are being provided with the NHS approved Identicom i750 device that provides the means to indicate when staff are temporarily at risk and enables staff to summons immediate assistance when difficulties are encountered. However unlike the current NHS procurement service offering, NHS South of Tyne & Wear staff is uniquely supported by Argyll’s award winning lone worker technology and service.

In addition to the functionality provided by the device, the Argyll lone worker service complies fully with the recommendations contained within the new BS8484 lone worker standard in that it also caters for the potential of a device failure.  This means that Argyll’s solution ensures staff are actively monitored within the ARC providing a fail-safe monitored egress from those temporary activities and it will also confirm to management when staff are safely returned home at the end of their work day thereby ensuring the employers duty of care.
