Around 100 guys, aged 18 to 80, from various Salisbury church congregations , have taken to meeting together , early on a Saturday morning for a cooked breakfast, cooked by professional chef, Scott McDaniel, and held at St Francis Church. Not only is this an opportunity to meet, chat and keep in touch, but also to hear an inspiring and challenging talk by evangelical christian preachers.
In March 2009 the original breakfast meeting listened to Greg Haslam, speaking on “Being a Godly Man in the 21st Century”. Greg is currently Senior Pastor at Westminster Chapel in Central London.
In October 2009 the speaker was Chris Kilby, from a rapidly growing church in Southampton. Chris spoke on “Men being Men” .
The speaker for the meeting for February 27th will be Andy Drake, who is Director of Evangelism for CVM (Christian Vision for Men).
The inspiration for these gatherings, came from a realisation that the role of men is crucial, but often overlooked, in church and family life, in the 21st century. Leaders from St Pauls, St Francis & Salisbury City Church decided to take the lead in organising these regular get togethers.
Men from other congregations, other denominations or none, are welcome to attend from the South Wilts and New Forest areas, the next Saturday Breakfast will be held on February 27th 2010, 7.45am-10am.
