Jan. 27, 2010 - PRLog -- HONOLULU, HI — January 27, 2010 — Australian experts will share their knowledge with feed industry professionals from around the world at two major international conferences in March. The Feed Ingredients & Additives Asia Pacific (FIAAP) Conference and Aquafeed Horizons Asia will take place March 3-4, 2010 in Bangkok, as part of the region's main feed industry event, Victam Asia. The conferences bring top notch technical experts from around the globe to discuss developments in formulation and feed technology. In 2010, there will be four presenters from Australia:

John Spragg operates his own agribusiness consulting company JCS Solutions. Through JCS Solutions, John fills the role of Executive Officer for the Stock Feed Manufacturers’ Council of Australia. In addition, John works as the AusScan Project Manager for the Australian Pork Co-operative Research Centre. John also works for the Australian Grains Research and Development Council in development of feed grain market development strategies. At FIAAP 2010 John will talk about rapid analysis prediction of available energy in feed grains. Data will be presented from Australian research on the variation that naturally occurs in feed grains and how different grains are better suited for each livestock species. The link between grain physical and chemical characteristics and its available energy content will also be discussed.

David M. Smith BAppSc started working as a consultant research scientist in aquaculture nutrition on his retirement from CSIRO in January 2009. He had worked for CSIRO studying crustacean physiology and nutrition for 38 years, and had led the crustacean nutrition research at CSIRO Marine Research since 1991. He had been Principal Investigator of projects studying nutrient requirements, feeding strategies, developing new diets, and investigating replacement of fishmeal with terrestrial ingredients. David will discuss the benefits of grain application in aquafeeds.

Dr. Geoff Allan is currently Research Leader, Aquaculture & Centre Director,  Port Stephens Fisheries Centre. (Science & Research Division, NSW DPI), Program Consultant, ACIAR.Project Leader, AQUAFIN CRC, Chair, Research and Adoption Committee, Seafood CRC,Vice-Chair, Aquaculture without Frontiers (AwF) (based in USA); Trustee, (AwF - UK). Geoff will discuss the use of rendered products for aquatic animal feeds.

The use of animal proteins for animal feed will be presented by animal nutrition consultant, Dr Ken Bruerton of Queensland-based, Protea Park Nutrition Services.

"We are delighted to have such a strong Australian presence at our conferences", organizer, Suzi Fraser Dominy said. "Australian research and technical know-how has much to offer the international feed industry but too often it is overlooked outside of the region. We are pleased to be able to shine a wider spotlight on some of this expertise".

"The Australian Renderers Association and the New Zealand Meat Industry Association Renderers Group will be major sponsors for Aquafeed Horizons Asia and are the exclusive sponsors of the FIAAP Conference", Dominy said. "Their sponsorship of the conferences is really support for the industry as a whole: it allows us to keep our delegate fees reasonable and therefore available to more people".

Aquafeed Horizons Asia, FIAAP Asia and a new conference about grain preservation and quality - in particular mycotoxin control - will take place on consecutive days: March 3, 4 and 5, 2010.For more information and to register, Please visit http://www.feedconferences.com.
