Bouw in Beeldprijs 2010
Theme: Back Home
Edgar Degas Foundation and sponsor Ballast Nedam Dutch call on photographers to register for the fourth edition of the Bouw in Beeldprijs. This award gives photographers the chance to compete for a cash prize of €10,000 and have their work presented at major cultural venues. The theme of the 2010 edition is ‘Back Home’.
From the initial entries 10 photographers will be selected. These finalists will get the chance to develop new work to within the theme of Back Home. In June and July of 2010 their work will be exhibited at the COBRA Museum for Contemporary Art in Amstelveen. The winner of the 2010 Bouw in Beeldprijs will be announced at this exhibition opening.
Marcel Feil, FOAM curator, is guest curator of the Bouw in Beeldprijs and chairman the selection committee. Along side him are Andrea Stultiens (winner of the Bouw in Beeldprijs 2009), photographer Marie-Jose Jongerius, graphic designer Hans Fairhurst and adviser Frank van der Stok. The selection committee will evaluate the submissions and determine which 10 photographers will be nominated for the 2010 Bouw in Beeldprijs. About the Bouw in Beeldprijs
Shelter, a roof over your head and protection are primary needs for survival. As one of the largest construction companies in the Netherlands, Ballast Nedam finds it important to spread this message in an inspiring, strong but most of all creative way.

2010 will be the fourth time the Bouw in Beeldprijs will be awarded, with 1st prize being a sum of €10,000. This is the highest amount awarded for an annual photography prize in the Netherlands. The prize is awarded annually to a photographer who has best captured the theme in the eyes of the jury. The Bouw in Beeldprijs has grown to now be one of the main photography awards in the Netherlands.
