As part of its strategic partnership with the National Psoriasis Foundation, Inside Business Review with Fred Thompson met with leading dermatologist, Dr. Mark Lebwohl, Chairman of the National Psoriasis Foundation Medical Board and Professor & Chairman of Dermatology at Mt. Sinai School of Medicine in October, 2009, to help heighten awareness of the disease.
Affecting up to 7.5 million Americans, psoriasis is one of the most prevalent autoimmune diseases in the United States. Psoriasis appears on the skin and varies from person to person, in both severity and how it responds to treatment. Associated with other serious health conditions, such as diabetes, heart disease and depression, psoriasis can occur on any part of the body.
The National Psoriasis Foundation is a nonprofit patient advocacy organization committed to finding a cure for psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. During the Inside Business Review interview, Dr. Lebwohl talked about the types and causes of psoriasis, how the disease affects children and adults, treatments available, improving the quality of life of those who are affected, and the latest in psoriasis research.
