Dr. Dennis C. Smith has been doing bariatric surgery since 1997, and laparoscopic bariatric surgery since 1999, when he became one of the first surgeons to complete a laparoscopic Duodenal Switch procedure. In 2002 he founded Advanced Obesity Surgery, LLC, devoted exclusively to bariatric surgery.
With a comprehensive Center of Excellence bariatric surgery program, he’s one of only a handful of laparoscopic surgeons who regularly perform the Duodenal Switch, the Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass, the Sleeve Gastrectomy, and the LAP-BAND®.

He now also offers the Stomaphyx™ procedure and the ROSE® procedure, an incision-free endoscopic restorative procedure for bariatric patients.
Dr. Smith is a long-time leader and innovator in laparoscopic bariatric surgery, serving as faculty for many courses teaching laparoscopic bariatric operations and techniques.
With emphasis on safety and quality, Dr. Smith has treated patients from all over the US and other countries. He operates at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Georgia.
