LANXESS donates four million chemical water treatment tablets to Haiti
Singapore - LANXESS is supporting relief efforts in the aftermath of the earthquake tragedy in Haiti. The specialty chemicals company has donated 200,000 USD to supply more than four million chemical water treatment tablets. The tablets are used in water purification systems and can provide about 76 million liters of clean water for at least 20,000 Haitian families.
The company's U.S. subsidiary, LANXESS Corporation, is coordinating the supply of the tablets to Deep Springs International (DSI), a U.S.-based non-profit organization that helps families purify their own water. The organization uses modified, nineteen-liter buckets that are compatible with the solid chlorine tablets in order to treat contaminated water. This process is recommended by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
LANXESS does not have any offices or employees stationed in Haiti.
