Dr. Terry L. Bowser Outlines God’s Redemptive Plan for African Americans in “From Slavery to the Presidency”
SAINT MARYS, Ga. – "But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive" (Genesis 50:20). Borrowing from these words of Joseph to his brothers after they wrongfully mistreated him, author, Terry L. Bowser, draws an analogy between Joseph and the history of African Americans in his book, From Slavery to the Presidency: What the Man Intended for Evil...God Has Meant for Good!
Joseph's journey from slavery, through no fault of his own, to a place of power, was a long and tedious one which oftentimes seemed hopeless. Likewise, the African American's journey from slavery to the present time--that of the election of our first black president in America's history, has been a long, tedious, seemingly hopeless journey. Bowser takes us back to the beginning of slavery--way before they started bringing us to America. Along the way, he shows us not only our defeats and the mistreatments handed out to us, but he also shows us our many accomplishments along the way.
In his efforts to examine slavery’s role in the success and triumph of the African race, Dr. Bowser delivers an educational, informative and inspirational body of work with the potential to change the way future generations view one of the most significant stains on world history. “From Slavery to the Presidency” is a well-researched, in-depth exploration of the historical events surrounding slavery and the continued journey of Africans in America, through the lens of Christian theology. Using a biblical framework, Dr. Bowser analyzes the impact of centuries of pain, the resulting racial divide, and perceptions held by both white and black Americans that have hindered the nation’s healing process.
From Slavery to the Presidency, shows us how that God's hand has been on us all the way, and He will continue to be with us. Bowser's purpose in writing From Slavery to the Presidency, is not only to educate us of the history of African Americans, but to show us that with God as our guide, there is nothing we cannot overcome. Be encouraged and keep in mind that they may have meant it for evil, but God will turn it around for your good.
