Captain Sheriff, Owner of Captain Sheriff's Fishing Charters based in Charlestown, Rhode Island, releases what promises to be the first of a series of saltwater fishing videos.
Videos upcoming include Mahi / Dolphin fishing, Shark fishing, Striped Bass, Tautog and Bluefish. Videos other than the Dolphin / Mahi videos will be from fishing the Galilee, Newport, Block Island, Narragansett Bay and Watch Hill, Rhode Island areas.
The first video released is a double hookup of sailfish in Key Largo, FL which is Captain Sheriff''s hometown where he has 3 boats to utilize. On December 26, 2009, Captain's John Sheriff, Travis Cooper and Joe Sheriff fished just off the Elbow Reef in Key Largo, Florida in search of sailfish to catch and release. "On this particular day we had 2 double sailfish hookup, several Mahi / Dolphins and a brief hookup with a Marlin before spooling the reel. We were fishing light spinning tackle, 25 lb test line and live ballyhoo for bait."
"The first video released highlights a double sailfish hookup. During the 36 minute battle, we had to flag a vessel to get out of our way. In addition, the handle on the spinning reel broke completely off and we were able to repair the reel by exchanging the handle from another another reel and successfully landed and released the sailfish while the other sailfish spooled the reel."
