Jan. 22, 2010 - PRLog -- The Refugees and the Rescue is about Martin, a soccer-mad refugee from Zimbabwe, who finds himself living on the streets of Johannesburg, South Africa. Martin discovers that surviving homelessness is a team effort, like soccer, and that he must depend on others. After he is befriended by an Irish nun, Sister Louisa takes Martin along with her when she leaves for England. Martin is determined to play in the 2010 Soccer World Cup.

Now living a more comfortable life, Martin never forgets his homeland or the events that shaped him. He learned many life lessons being homeless, so when he hears that Rachel, a little African girl, has gone missing from the streets of London, he decides to find her. With a fellow Zimbabwean refugee named Jenny, Martin tracks down Rachel, as well as the gang of human smugglers who kidnapped her.

This unforgettable novel points out the troubles faced by refugees, as well as the evils of human trafficking, since both displace people from their culture. The book provides a touching tribute to those forced out of their homes around the world. Because Martin owed his survival to others, his actions are inspirational, changing him from a survivor to a savior.
