When a strange old woman gives Griffin Penshine a box of shiny pennies, it sets in motion a desperate quest. Griffin discovers that the old woman was actually a wish stealer, who stole each penny from a wishing fountain decades earlier. Tracy Trivas is a graduate of Dartmouth College and holds a Master's degree in English from Middlebury. She directed a gifted and talented enrichment program at a K-8 school in Los Angeles, which led to her writing several gifted and talented workbooks for McGraw-Hill. Her first adult non-fiction book, A Princess Found was published by St. Martin's Press in July 2009. School Library Journal recently named it as a 2009 "Best adult book for high school students." Tracy lives in California with her husband and daughter.

Tracy has teamed up with the Pennies for the Planet, an educational fundraising campaign supported by TogetherGreen targeted at grades two through six. By teaching students about threatened ecosystems and wildlife, Pennies for the Planet hopes to connect young people and families with the environment and provide ideas for how they can help protect it. Last fall, a new season of Pennies for the Planet got underway with a focus on endangered coastlines and coastline-dependent wildlife. The fundraiser is woven into the book.
