By: Liquid Lightning energy drink

Jan. 22, 2010 - PRLog -- Liquid Lightning Energy Drink has jumped into action as international communities have been called upon to assist Haiti, the Caribbean island devastated by the 7.0-magnitude earthquake on January 12. The company immediately delved into this urgent relief effort along with various Caribbean communities and NGO leaders to raise in-kind donations and money to further contribute to the humanitarian efforts.

Immediately following news of the devastation in Haiti, Liquid Lightning pledged a significant product donation of its energy drinks and Nirvana Water, which will be transported into Haiti via Food For The Poor (www.foodforthepoor.org). Named as one of the strategic partners with the Consulate General of Jamaica, New York (www.congenjamaica-ny.org) on the Haitian relief initiative, Liquid Lightning along with the Consuls General of various Caribbean countries and CARICOM (www.caricom.org) will coordinate and help bring food and supplies into Haiti this week.

Following the leadership of Consul General Geneive Brown Metzger of Jamaica, Liquid Lightning, a number of Consuls General, community organizations and various government officials will also take part in a Radiothon this Saturday, January 23, to raise additional funds for the joint relief efforts. The Radiothon is facilitated by Irie Jam Radio 93.5FM WVIP and Food For The Poor, and the company is urging every individual to join its initiatives and call in from 1pm to 6pm on Saturday to donate. The number for Radiothon is 866-433-4673.

With Haiti having been struck by another 6.1 aftershock on January 20, the energy drink company and its employees are digging deeper and going another step further in its efforts, with company personnel scheduled to be on the grounds in Haiti and directly involved in search and recovery efforts. TJ Eaton, Director of Emerging Markets said “Haiti is in great need of relief workers, and we decided to take action to help people in need.” Eaton along with Evan Winokur and one of the company’s “Emerging Icons” Mike Castro, a Muay Thai World Champion, boarded a plane on Wednesday afternoon heading into Dominican Republic. Armed with military experience and the desire to help those in need, the team is expecting to find their way into Haiti through ground transportation by Thursday.  “Tragedies like this really make it incumbent upon us to provide humanitarian support, which embodies the empathy and sympathy from one human to another; we are blessed to be able to help in Haiti’s time of need.” said Ru-El Burford, Marketing Director and Brand Architect for Liquid Lightning.

Liquid Lightning will continue its initiatives, and is striving to enlist additional corporate partners to provide additional donations and funds to the relief efforts.
