Regal Cinema locations throughout middle Tennessee will be collecting new and gently used sports equipment at all showings of the “Tooth Fairy” from Jan. 22 to Feb. 12 that will be donated to the Global Gear Drive.
For approximately three weeks seven Regal Cinema locations in Nashville, Tenn., and one location in Huntsville, Ala., will be collecting sports gear from local community members that will eventually make it into the hands of underprivileged children across the world.
Several times a year select Regal Cinema locations in middle Tennessee hold charitable community events in conjunction with movies being featured. To coincide with the upcoming film “Tooth Fairy,” starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Regal Cinemas in the middle Tennessee district will be working to contribute to the Global Gear Drive.
The Global Gear Drive is a charitable initiative of the National Alliance for Youth Sports (NAYS) that aims to put sports equipment in the hands of children living in developing regions around the world that wish to take part in quality sports activities but are unable to due to shortages of equipment and the lack of facilities in their countries.
Every person who donates a piece of equipment to the Global Gear Drive at participating Regal Cinema locations will receive a complimentary “Tooth Fairy” poster.
Participating Tennessee theatres include Regal Streets of Indian Lake Stadium 16, Regal Providence Stadium 14, Regal Opry Mills Stadium 20 & IMAX, Regal Hollywood Stadium 27, Regal Green Hills Stadium 16, Regal Bellevue 12 and Regal Tullahoma 8. Regal Hollywood Stadium 18 in Huntsville, Ala., will also be participating.
The Global Gear Drive is an easy process which individuals, sports leagues, schools, churches and communities can get involved in. Slightly used and new equipment is collected and then shipped around the world, where it gives children the chance to play sports. The Global Gear Drive is funded by the Sammy Wilkinson Memorial Foundation, a NAYS charity dedicated to enriching the lives of children worldwide by providing them the financial support and tools and opportunities to participate in sports activities within their schools and communities.
