Jan. 22, 2010 - PRLog -- January 22, 2010, Woodland Hills, CA. Green Edge Systems, Inc. leader in Technology Solutions for School Food Services presents HumiFilter Humidity Cooler Filters for School Food Services at the California School Nutrition Association Conference and Exhibition, Santa Clara Convention Center, Santa Clara, CA, January 29-30, 2010, Booth#224.

The HumiFilter Fridge Guard cooler filters contain an all natural mineral Desiccant compound mined by the Fridge Guard Corporation. This mineral compound is packed in recyclable filters. HumiFilter's unique styles of packaging are available in different sizes to meet the needs of any application and any size cooler.

As air in refrigeration units varies in temperature, it generates moisture. This moisture fosters the growth of mold and mildew which produce bacteria and odors. The HumiFilters withdraw the excess moisture and odor from the air and maintain an optimum humidity level.

HumiFilters improve food safety by eliminating mold and mildew on cooler floors, walls, and in the insulation between walls, drastically reducing airborne bacteria that result in food borne illness.

HumiFilters save energy; studies show a 15% to 22% savings on electricity. Dryer air cools easier than moist air, allowing temperatures to drop 3-5 degrees to maintain health departments’ temperature of 38°. Removing moisture in the air makes it easier to maintain proper cooler temperatures. Cooler compressor and fans run 2-3 hours less per day, saving on energy, life time of equipment, repairs & down time and generating less ice condensation in condensers and fans.

HumiFilters remove odors; pesky odors that effect food quality are removed from the coolers.

HumiFilters reduces injuries; removing excess moisture on floors, walls, and ceilings makes a safer work environment.

HumiFilters extend shelf life; extend the shelf life of meats, fruits, and vegetables by as much as 50%! HumiFilters traps gases given off by fruits and vegetables that prematurely spoil perishables.

HumiFilter cooler filter installation; HumiFilters come equipped with a tie strap for easy mounting to any permanent fixture or shelf in your walk-in cooler. They can also be simply laid or stood up on a shelf.

HumiFilters turn out to be extremely efficient when used with older refrigeration systems, allowing them a much more efficient operation and coping with excessive humidity and temperatures.

Proven performance; Hear what colleagues are saying about these Cooler Filters:

“Moisture on the walls and floors of my cooler has disappeared. Shelf life of mushrooms and herbs was extended 50%!”   Chef Jeffrey Gabriel, C.M.C.  , Schoolcraft College Livonia, MI.

“This has extended the life of our coolers and lowered maintenance costs. I would recommend this product to anyone!”  Mark A. Cox, Principal Food Operations Manager, University of Minnesota

“Cooler odors are gone and fresh produce stays fresh longer. An incredible job of fixing our long-term humidity problems!” Gary Peterson, Senior Director of Inflight Services, Sun Country Airlines

“As a non-smoker I was pleased to find that Moisture Guard made smoking rooms smell like non-smoking rooms without adding any perfume type-smell. All hints of smoke odors were eliminated.” Ernesto Pons, Best Western Plaza International, Orlando, FL.

As per the FDA Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP)   Principles and Application Guidelines, Adopted August 14, 1997:

“All raw materials and products should be stored under sanitary conditions and the proper environmental conditions such as temperature and humidity to assure their safety and wholesomeness.”

“Monitoring serves three main purposes. First, monitoring is essential to food safety management in that it facilitates tracking of the operation. If monitoring indicates that there is a trend towards loss of control, then action can be taken to bring the process back into control before a deviation from a critical limit occurs. Second, monitoring is used to determine when there is loss of control and a deviation occurs at a CCP, i.e., exceeding or not meeting a critical limit. When a deviation occurs, an appropriate corrective action must be taken. Third, it provides written documentation for use in verification.

An unsafe food may result if a process is not properly controlled and a deviation occurs. Because of the potentially serious consequences of a critical limit deviation, monitoring procedures must be effective. Ideally, monitoring should be continuous”
