LOS ANGELES, CA – As a natural extension of their popular organic bedding and textile collections, Amenity Home (Amenity), a Los Angeles-based design studio, is proud to introduce their first collection of bedroom furniture. The Muir Collection is made locally from wood reclaimed from deconstructed building sites around the state, re-invented and given a second life as something quintessentially Californian.
“When we were furnishing our own homes, we found that there was really a limited selection of quality, sustainable furniture for the bedroom,” says Amenity Co-Founder and Muir Collection designer Nicole Chiala. “In this age of rapid consumption and constant replacement, we really wanted to offer people a sustainable alternative that could grace a home for several years without ever becoming outdated.”
The Muir Collection is inspired by the work of classic modernists like Paul McCobb and Charles Eames. Characterized by clean lines and gracefully curved corners, the versatile Muir bed floats on simple nickel legs and can be placed against a wall or floating in a loft space. The full collection includes two styles of dressers (6-drawer low and 5-drawer high), a side table, a mirror (available with floor stand or wall mounted), and an innovative headboard shelf and storage accessory for smaller spaces. Amenity can also create and produce custom pieces and large orders for commercial or hospitality projects.
Amenity works closely with a local furniture maker to create the Muir Collection from reclaimed seasoned hardwood rescued from demolition sites around Los Angeles.
“We’re really proud of the simple yet sophisticated elegance of the Muir Collection,”
