CHICAGO, IL - January 20, 2010—TenStyle Media Inc. announces the launch of Qlix magazine, a visual and kinesthetic experience within an independent publication that celebrates all emerging talents and concepts within fashion semi-annually. Inspired by unconventional format publications in various global markets, Qlix’s envelope layout with multiple inserts and fold outs is what sets it apart from the traditional fashion publication. Qlix delivers unique and creative content, whether presented to its online fans, or presented to the readers of its first printed issue. Qlix provides a highly portable and collectible publication, and encourages reader interaction with the content, thus building a cohesive community between the reader and the publication.
Qlix magazine also prides itself on being an interactive online community via Qlixmag.com, boasting a growing readership via Qlix List blog, Facebook Fan page, and Twitter profile, and upcoming digital issues and videos via QlixTV YouTube channel.
Qlix magazine is specifically targeted towards the “ever-evolving”
Issue 01 of Qlix magazine is structured in three sections: story boards, collectible cards, and the poster magazine. Story boards feature editorial fashion stories displayed in a poster format. The collectible cards feature content of emerging talent or concepts in a “trading card” format. The poster magazine features regular FOB (front of book) content that you would normally find in a traditional publication, except arranged in a poster format, with an illustration from an emerging artist displayed on the back.
Qlix was founded by former Papierdoll magazine managing editor, Tenisha Anderson. Ms. Anderson is a graduate of Southern Illinois University/Carbondale (BS Marketing), The International Academy of Design and Technology (BA Merchandise Management); and The University of Arts/London College of Communications (MA Publishing). Her professional experience includes styling for NBC5 Fashion Five with Barbara Glass, Papierdoll magazine, Chicago Scene magazine, and Shelter magazine; and writing for Papierdoll magazine (New York), Zoot magazine (Portugal), Phamous69.com (London), and Blurb magazine (London).
When asked what is it that she hopes for Qlix to accomplish, editor, Tenisha Anderson, states, “ What I hope Qlix accomplishes is that whenever our readers pick up Qlix magazine or read the blog, or view images in the gallery, they become inspired/motivated by what their peers, people just like them, are doing. Inspiration doesn’t always come from the top of the totem pole, and exposure for emerging talent can come from some of the unlikeliest places. In a nutshell, I feel when you see what your peers are doing and that people are taking notice of that, then hopefully it will motivate you to do the same. That's the Qlix experience.”
