Resolution Season Brings New Meaning to Fitness Together

Jan. 21, 2010 - PRLog -- SAMMAMISH, Wash. – Jan. 12, 2010 – Resolution season is just underway, and four local women already have their finish line in sight. The marathon finish line, that is.

Amy Lewallen, a certified personal trainer and the owner of Fitness Together Sammamish located at 3008 Issaquah Pine Lake Rd. S.E., will fly to Phoenix with three of her clients this weekend to help them run their very first marathon. Lewallen will be joined by Kris Lang, 45, and Mary Christy, 46, for the Rock and Roll Marathon's challenging 26.2-mile race in the Sonoran Desert. A third client, Sherry Zeiler, 47, is also running her first half-marathon.

That's a long way to travel just to work up a sweat. But that's also what puts the personal in personal training for Lewallen.

Lewallen, whose fitness franchise studio specializes in one-on-one personal training, challenged her clients to set a big goal after coaching them to early milestones in their workout sessions. That's when the ultimate test, a marathon, entered the picture.

For the last 18 weeks, the women have tackled long weekend runs in addition to their regular workouts at Fitness Together to build their stamina for the big race. And now they are kicking off the new year with one of the toughest physical challenges a person can undergo.

"I know that crossing the finish line with Mary and Kris will be one of the highlights of my career," Lewallen says. "Because each week that we complete our long Sunday runs, I feel that way already."

Lang, a busy engineer; Christy, a stay-at-home mom; and Zeiler, a second-grade teacher; have already achieved another goal too. All have made regular exercise a part of their busy lives. And with the help of a personal trainer who is now a true friend, they are going after something that many women half their age never even attempt.
