PSI, an industry-leading provider of professional testing services, announced today that the Tennessee Board of Cosmetology in the Department of Commerce and Insurance has selected PSI to continue to administer its cosmetology licensure examination program, following a competitive bidding process.
The new contract term is for one year, with four optional one year renewals. PSI was first selected to develop and administer the cosmetology licensure examinations for Tennessee in 2005. PSI will provide test development and administration for the Theory Examination in six computer-based test centers and the Practical Examination at three practical sites. The examinations include: Cosmetologist, Manicurist, Aesthetician, Shampoo Technician, Natural Hair Stylist and Cosmetology Instructor.
PSI administers more than 6,000 cosmetology exams in Tennessee per year and, overall, administers more cosmetology licensing exams than any other vendor. This latest contract is one of six contracts that PSI currently has with the state of Tennessee.
“The decision by Tennessee to renew our contract is a testament to PSI’s history of providing first-rate reliable service” said Stephen Tapp, PSI’s CEO. “We are committed to exceeding the Department’s expectations in terms of efficiency, convenience and value.”
