The non-commercialized nature of the market had highly restricted volume sales in the past and consequent price fall. Demand for non-toxic-substance-based energy storage is expected to accelerate the demand for stationary fuel cells in the coming decade. Technological advancements and an increase in sales combined are expected to bring fuel cell costs down. As a result, the technology is expected to become commercialized by 2013-15.
