Santa Barbara, CA., January 17, 2010 -- Each spring the luxury charter yacht Caledonia forges a path through the wintery landscape of the inside passage of Alaska. With the terrain drastically transformed each year from high winds, thick snow and the ever-shifting glaciers – this vast territory of America exists as a delicate and breathtakingly beautiful frontier.
Caledonia, a 95-foot luxury yacht, carefully charts its winding course through the passages and fjords past the rocky beaches, the towering icy blue glaciers, feeding whales, foraging brown bears and soaring bald eagles above.
The fragile nature of this unique terrain is compounded with the presence of mega-cruise ships averaging 2500 to 3000 tourists per boat and a crew of 1500 to 2000 foreign workers. Add to this the small motor yacht charter fleet of perhaps 10 to 12 yachts, which only carry 8 to 12 guests plus a crew of 4-6.
"This truly is an extremely fragile and delicate environment."
The booking season is currently open and tours begin May 15th. The typical tour lasts 6 nights and 7 days.
