Stylesignal hit the show floor at Bread & Butter Berlin today amid the excitement and anticipation of the latest edition of the industry show, ingesting trends and asking attendees their thoughts.
Buyer Opinions
In direct polling performed by Stylesignal, womenswear buyers gave strong signals about their denim intentions for autumn/winter 2010/11, clearly saying that they did not approve of overalls in the majority. Italian buyers were particularly averse.
Buyers still express a strong preference toward skinny jeans, particularly those based in France and Italy, but they are now showing a guarded interest in moving toward tapered and looser cuts. Conversely, many attendees were wearing dropped-crotch styles, although this trend in particular is strongly aligned to specific geographic regions and has not yet achieved universal appeal.
Trends
On the show floor, Stylesignal noted accent colours of cyan blue, winter berry colours such as red, pink and purple and mustard/yolk yellow teamed with a varied palette of neutrals. Colours were closely in-line and on trend with the Stylesignal seasonal forecast, available to subscribers.
Marble finished denim was an overwhelming trend, with acid and bleach washes prominent. Hard-wearing workwear details such as faux repaired damage and distress evoked Americana and denim history. Military inspired details and shapes were another notable trend, executed through shoulder detailing and insignia.
Bread & Butter Berlin runs until Friday, and Stylesignal will continue polling attendees on what looks, brands and garments they'll be stocking for autumn/winter 2010/11. During the show, Stylesignal will release trend information and poll results free on Twitter, as well as on the Stylesignal website.
