Girls Incorporated of Southwestern Connecticut is proud to announce that they will begin Girls Inc. Operation SMART® (science, math and relevant technology) a 6 week hands on science and math after school program for girls grades 2-5 at all five Bridgeport Public Library branches. The program has been made possible by the generous support of People’s United Bank Foundation. Operation SMART® is designed to engage girls in fun experiments and peek their interest in future careers in the field of math and science. The program will include information and practice on utilizing library resources for research and information as students will begin working on science fair projects towards the later end of the program. Operation SMART® is all about discovering, creating, and solving mysteries-things that today's girls are good at. Girls will explore areas such as: the human body, nature and animals, the Solar System, architecture, chemical reactions, and much more.
Girls Inc. Operation SMART® will held on Mondays January 25 through March 8 at Newfield Library from 3:30-4:30PM, Burroughs and Saden Memorial Library from 5-6PM, Tuesdays January 26-March 9 at Old Mill Green Library from 3:30-4:30PM and North Library from 5-6PM, and Thursdays January 28-March 11 at Blackrock Library from 3:30-4:30PM.
