Agilex Technologies, Inc., an enterprise application, solution and advisory firm serving the national security, healthcare and public sectors, today announced the availability of the January episode of Realize the Value of Information with Agilex.  This monthly podcast series features experts drawn from throughout Agilex addressing some of the most critical issues facing government IT leaders.  Realize the Value of Information with Agilex is available from iTunes and at www.Agilex.com/research.

The January edition of Realize the Value of Information with Agilex focuses on the growing role that smartphones are playing in government operations.  In this discussion, Agilex CTO Tim Hoechst examines how these devices are being used by federal agencies today to extend and expand their mission.  In addition, he shares best practices for developing client-specific applications that capitalize most effectively on the unique features and requirements of mobile computing.  Hoechst also discusses the strengths and constraints of various smartphone platforms in terms of development.

“The current generation of smartphones are an intriguing platform for meeting mission-related requirements in a mobile environment due to their relative robustness, extensibility and cost-effectiveness,” said Hoechst.  “The challenge in application development is matching effectively the requirements of the underlying process with the capabilities of the platform.  By getting this balance right, agencies can significantly improve the effectiveness and efficiency of their mobile workforce.”

Hoechst is Agilex’ Chief Technology Officer (CTO), overseeing the company’s technology strategy and managing its Technology Innovation Center.  Hoechst’s organization also partners extensively with clients to develop, prototype and test new solutions.

Prior to joining Agilex, he served with Oracle Corporation for over nineteen years.  Most recently, Hoechst was the company’s chief technology executive for the public sector, where he consulted with clients throughout government and served on key industry panels advising senior leaders on science and technology policy.

Realize the Value of Information with Agilex is available from iTunes and at www.Agilex.com/research.
