Jan. 20, 2010 - PRLog -- Poet/singer Marcee Lee Winthrop could have released her 2nd book on the appointed date of Jan 26,2010---the 1st anniversary of the day she wrote her first poem. However, she has opted to delay the publishing of her 2nd book of poetry until late February or early March. Marcee said,"All the poems are finished for the book but I must write a few more commentaries to go along with the poems as I did in my 1st book of poems. I chose to wait briefly because I am preparing songs for my audition for "America's Got Talent" when they come to Orlando,Florida on Feb 13-14. Right now,I am averaging 7 hours of practice a day on my voice and my song choices. I have one solo song and also ,a duet with my teenage daughter,Tammy Boyd, being planned for the judges. We are preparing other songs as we are believing that we will go on to the show this time. Our confidence level is high and we are going to sing like our life depends upon it----because it sort of does! After 20 years of poverty,it would be so nice to have a better quality of life.I want my daughter to have opportunities in her life that she would never have in poverty. So we will sing to help us get out of poverty and I will continue to write poems with meaning too." Marcee has her first book of poetry and commentaries out called "POVERTY REVOLUTION:Part 1-Skimming the Surface" and it is available on Abebooks,Biblio,AddAll,Bookfinder.Marcee is a caregiver for an elderly lady and lives in her home for the rooms that she and her daughter occupy. Marcee commented,"I am payed by having bedrooms for me and my daughter and receive no cash compensation for my duties to the lady, housekeeping, cooking and laundry. We are not even give our complete board for my services---only dinner.I still have to buy breakfast, lunch and all beverages. When we moved in(about 2 months ago),her family provided all of those things to us and then a few weeks later(after we were settled in),the family withdrew almost everything they had written that they would provide. Right now,I feel stuck in a job that is not fulfilling its promises to me just so we can have a place to live.I can't even afford an apartment of my own at this point.Don't have enough money coming in!We live way below the poverty still--although we are making great strides to get out of poverty. The book is one way and our singing talent is another way.Fortunately,I have a passion for both and will do both to the best of my ability." When asked what Marcee would do if she was chosen to go on to the tv talent show"America's Got Talent",she said,"I would be thrilled to get that much closer to showing America what I've got to offer as an entertainer and then letting them decide my fate." Marcee said that if she was to win $1 million from the show, she would get new teeth(her own are missing and/or crooked),buy a home so she doesn't have to be without one again,a car(she hasn't had one since 1980's),a laptop(she's never had one),a phone(she hasn't had a cell phone in about 4 years),start a trust fund for Tammy, and start a nonprofit officially "POVERTY REVOLUTION INITIATIVE" to help others who want to get out of poverty. She and her daughter reside in Gainesville,Florida.
