The Bernicia Group provides services to more than 8,000 homes across the North East of England and is the latest housing group to join the BrowseAloud community.
BrowseAloud is a text-to-speech solution that reads all accessible website content aloud in a high quality human sounding voice which can be altered to suit the individual’s specific needs. As text is read aloud, words are highlighted;
Bernicia has enabled the new version of BrowseAloud on their website which will allow people with literacy difficulties, dyslexia, or mild visual impairments to hear online content being read aloud.
Online visitors simply click the BrowseAloud icon on the Bernicia homepage www.bernicia.com to download the product free of charge.
Debra Beattie, Head of Organisational Development for Bernicia adds, “As a customer focused organisation our mission is to deliver outstanding customer service, we believe BrowseAloud will enable website visitors to access all our online services with ease. “
The latest version of BrowseAloud has undergone some exciting new changes which include an on screen floating toolbar where the user can easily access all the key features of BrowseAloud.
New features that have been added include a Translation tool; allowing for single word translations in English, French, Spanish, German or Italian, and a Screen Masking facility which allows users to mask information on the screen to help with concentration. This feature also aids those who speak English as a second language.
Other housing groups to join us include Harvest, Irwell Valley, Arena, Midland Heart, Magna, Spectrum and Housing 21 to name a few.
