Shreveport, LA— The 2009 State Fair of Louisiana clinched its third consecutive spot on Matt’s Carnival Warehouse’s annual list of Top 50 North American Fairs.
“I believe this is a testament to the quality of The State Fair of Louisiana,” said Chris Giordano, president and general manager of The State Fair of Louisiana. “This consistent honor means not only are we providing a quality family entertainment outlet, but our state and region finds value in it by continuing to attend.”
The list is primarily based on attendance records for fairs and festivals in North America. The State Fair of Louisiana drew a crowd of 409,664 guests placing it at number 45 on the list. The Top 50 North American Fairs drew 40,316,926 guests in 2009, a small decrease of less than 1% from 2008.
"Despite economic fears, North America’s Top 50 events had a solid year", said Matt Cook, president of carnivalwarehouse.com. "Were it not for some extremely bad weather spells during key events, we could have had a great year in 2009", he added.
