Horizon Forest Products Long Floor Attains FSC Certification

Jan. 18, 2010 - PRLog -- RALEIGH, NC – Horizon Forest Products Long Floor is proud to announce that is has recently received a FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) Chain of Custody (COC) Certification.  FSC COC Certification demonstrates a company’s commitment of taking the environmental concerns of its customers and staff seriously.  

FSC COC tracks FSC material from the forest to the consumer, through all successive stages including processing, manufacturing, and distribution.  The FSC label provides the link between responsible production and consumption and thereby enables the consumer to make socially and environmentally responsible purchasing decisions.

Angela Simmons, Cabinet Branch Manager, says that over the past two years, the request for FSC materials from customers has increased tremendously and that customers were increasingly more interested in preserving natural resources and the environment.  

“Before we began the FSC certification process, we realized that most of the things we were selling were already being changed over to ‘green’ certification,” says Simmons.    “Horizon Forest Products Long Floor have always been quality driven, so moving towards a more ‘green’ way of doing business was a natural business transition for us.”

Simmons adds that in addition to its recent certification, Horizon Forest Products Long Floor is also committed to building partnerships with suppliers who are committed to sustainable forest management.  “Our largest lumber supplier has a Certified Forester® on staff at each of their saw mill locations, and our Impressions pre-finished flooring mill recycles their waste products to generate steam for their kilns and predryers,” adds Simmons.
