Need a little fitness inspiration to stay motivated through the cold winter? The Dance Studio of Maine’s, Trish Moulton, has a few tips so you can find a fun way to keep your 2010 weight loss resolutions.
A new year is a great time for a fresh start. But when it comes to losing weight, exactly where to begin and what goals to set depends in large part on your lifestyle. True, some smart moves like portion control and getting enough sleep are the same regardless of your birth date. But lifestyle is important when, for example, you’re trying to get motivated and planning your weekly schedule. Dance is a fantastic and often overlooked way to get in shape, meet new people, and have something fun event to look forward to each week. Trish Moulton is the owner of the Dance Studio of Maine and has some tips for choosing a dance class that fits your lifestyle and will help get in shape this season:
Zumba
This class is so much fun! You’ll find yourself smiling through the whole energetic workout. Due to the movements involved, the focus is on core strength while working your arms and legs through aerobics. This will get your heart rate up in the fat burning zone and is great for all ages and levels. The dance steps are repetitive and easy to follow so you can catch on even at your first lesson.
Hula Hoop Fitness
Hooping is the hot new way to exercise! Hula Hoop classes use a weighted hoop (a bit different from what you see on the playground) and you learn a series of choreographed routines. Classes will help you tone your muscles while getting a great aerobic workout.
Ballet and Tap
These traditional dance styles are amazing calorie burners! Spending time learning the steps and focusing on your movement is revitalizing your sensuality as well as your body; it is about harnessing your self-confidence and unleashing it out into the world! Think of it as a workout for your body, mind and spirit.
