Under the leadership of Eric David Benari the NYC MySQL Group has grown to over 1,100 members and has become the world's largest database group organized on Meetup. The group hosts monthly presentations by exceptional IT leaders at Sun Microsystems on Park Avenue. (http://www.meetup.com/mysqlnyc)

Upcoming speakers include Jane Landon, Deputy Commissioner & Chief Information Officer of the New York City Department of Finance & former-CIO at Microsoft and Prudential as well as Larry Bonfante, CIO of the United States Tennis Association- Mr. Bonfante is responsible for all IT-related services supporting the US Open, the most highly attended annual sporting event in the world.

Past-speakers have included the CTO of NBC Universal iVillage, CTO of HuffingtonPost, CEO of 10gen (parent company to MongoDB) & Co-Founder of DoubleClick.

The 2-hour no-charge events are open to the public and begin with Power-Networking, followed by the main event, then Q&A and end with 1-on-1 time with the presenter. Each event is recorded in High-Definition video (HD-720p) and available on-demand from the IT Management & Leadership eMagazine (http://www.LeadIT.us)

Members of the NYC MySQL Group are regularly presented with exclusive raffles for free technology training & related services, typically carrying a $500-800 value.

According to Mr. Benari, the group’s Organizer, an integral part of the success can be attributed to the unique presentation topics such as “How to Get Your Tech-Startup Taken Seriously by a Big Company” and “So you want to become a CIO? Be careful what you wish for!”

The combination of first-class speakers, outstanding topics, raffles, no fees and the ability for attendees to connect with speakers afterward usually cause all 150 exceptionally-comfortable plush reclining chairs to become occupied! The rapid-growth has triggered the attention of Microsoft and other organizations that have since become sponsors of the NYC MySQL Group. The group is actively seeking additional sponsorships and invites potential sponsors to contact the Organizer via the email link at http://www.meetup.com/mysqlnyc
