PRLog -- According to poet/singer Marcee Lee Winthrop, the news of such devastation to Haiti makes her appreciate what she does have in the USA daily.Marcee, who faced poverty for 20 years in America, says "While the US has it's problems with poverty, you can't compare it to the utter destruction of an already impoverished nation.Years of help will be needed to get Haiti back on its feet as a functioning nation. In the meantime,my concern is for the PEOPLE of Haiti. They are in need of so much RIGHT NOW! This morning,I signed a petition by ONE.org to release Haiti from world-wide debt to banks and other nations. The US has released Haiti from all debt and I hope others will too." Marcee & her daughter,Tammy Boyd, are in search of a charity concert that will let them perform one song each to help raise money for Haiti.Marcee said,"We don't have any money to help because we are struggling to survive here in America. We are not out of poverty yet,but we are on our way out. However,we have been blessed with voices that people like---so we would enjoy using our gifts to give back to society.Right now,Haiti needs help and we want to lend our voices to this cause. If anyone knows of a concert for Haiti that we can sing at,please contact me by email--marleewin@
gmail.com." Marcee wants to sing "Bridge Over Troubled Water"because to her it represents hope and inspiration even in the face of such devastation and turmoil. "When I would sing "Bridge Over Troubled Water",it would lift my spirits and right now that would be encouraging for the people of Haiti.Thank you Paul Simon & Art Garfunkel for such a beautiful song." Aside from trying to help in the cause for Haiti,Marcee and Tammy will be auditioning for "America's Got Talent"when they arrive in Orlando on Feb 13-14.
