This week, Customersatisfaction.com’s Dr. Gary S. Goodman made some wonderful discoveries that he says any consultant or business can emulate and if they do, their marketing and branding initiatives will really pay off.

He found he is the #1 ranked Customer Satisfaction Speaker at Google, and #3 at Bing.

Not only that, he is the #1 Telemarketing Speaker at BOTH Google and Bing. “Time to twist the cap on some sparkling apple cider,” he says, celebrating his success.

For Goodman, reaching top spots at leading search engines is great news because high rankings tend to promote business, which is every marketer’s goal. But apart from the rankings themselves, there is a great  advantage that they can bestow, if you deploy them properly, Goodman asserts.

“Rankings are CREDENTIALS.” He points out. “And credentials, especially unique ones, give us a competitive edge, distinctiveness that we can promote, prominently.”

Why did J.D. Power become a household name and a well-respected brand? The products and companies it judged to be best in class touted this distinction in their advertising, and they still do.

Even as President of Customersatisfaction.com, Goodman says he is more likely to select and prefer a nameplate that asserts it is top-ranked in long term customer satisfaction, mentioning his current car earned a similar honor after he purchased, making him feel “Just a little smarter, if not clairvoyant!” he quips.

But what is he doing with Google and Bing rankings that are transforming them into  credentials?

“First, I noticed them, and, quickly I wrote a quick blurb for LinkedIn and Twitter, and I emailed some of my best clients and my always-supportive family. And then I wrote a news release and article.”

And these activities along with others, should sustain his rankings, he believes, by sending even more visitors to Google and Bing, searching under his name and his professional speaking topics.

To rise above the marketing clatter, Goodman says we should take stock of our strengths, and “credentialize” those that haven’t been packaged for us, such as Ph.D.’s, cheery client testimonials and best-selling author status.

"Right now, #1 Ranked Customer Satisfaction Speaker at Google, is doing it for me," he smiles..

His advice? “Build your brand by staking your own claim, partner!”
