The 43rd Silicon Symposium will be held in downtown St. Louis on May 20-22, 2010 at the Hyatt Regency. The University of Missouri-St. Louis, Division of Continuing Education is the host of this year’s international symposium, a series of the well-established annual international symposium attended by academic and industrial scientists who research all aspects of silicon chemistry.
Scientists will present their research findings, communicate, and network with other chemists in the field. The scientific sessions will include plenary and invited lectures, contributed talks, and a poster presentation session. The meeting will cover all aspects of silicon chemistry research including the synthesis of organosilicon and transition-metal silicon compounds, mechanistic studies of reactive intermediates, biosilicon chemistry, solid state and silicon-based materials, silicon containing polymers, and metal-catalyzed reactions of silicon compounds.
This year’s meeting is sponsored by the Dow Corning Corporation, Eugene R. Corey Memorial Fund of the Eighth International Symposium on Organosilicon Chemistry, Geleste Inc., SiVance, Silatronix Inc., Wacker Chemie AG, MEMC Electronic Materials Inc., and the St. Louis section of the American Chemical Society.
“We are proud to be hosting this high profile conference in St. Louis. It fits into UMSL’s research institution background and its mission to serve the St. Louis community,” says Janet Wilking, Organizer of the 43rd Silicon Symposium and Assistant Professor in the Chemistry and Biochemistry department of UMSL.
