OUR CURRENT MISS TEEN COLORADO-WORLD 2009 - MICAYLA KEELEY.
Micayla Keeley is from Golden, Colorado and is a senior at Arvada West High School. She has enjoyed a year of charity events, appearances, modeling, photo shoots and more. Micayla says that becoming Miss Teen Colorado-World has changed her life forever...she says she will always be grateful for the opportunity it has provided for her. We're proud of Micayla and we're happy at her decision to stay on as part of our pageant family in future pageant productions.
Her favorite saying is; "Life is more than just how many breaths you take, but the moments that take your breath away." She says she has always had a lifelong passion to dance and cheer. When Micayla was younger she enjoyed playing soccer and gymnastics. She says; "I'm in the process of learning guitar now. I love to sing for fun, though I usually never do in public (: I also have a passion for songwriting, I have notebooks full of songs!"
Micayla tell us: "I'm very interested and involved in causes and conflicts around the world, but mostly I'm into drug awareness (for teens as well as adults) and international problems, such as the conflicts in Africa, Darfur, and Tibet. There are people out there, that we see on our TV's but never pay much attention to, that are helplessly suffering with things no one should have to suffer through. We have a lot more power than anyone thinks to at least make a dent in all that is happening. I think if people became more aware in programs and donating, we could pull a lot of heartbreaking stories from the news."
She does volunteer work occasionally at her church, helping in the nursery. The church has recently been hit with an economic problem, and had to lay off many great employees. Since there are few people to work there, Micayla volunteers to do some of the services to help keep the church running. She says; "Every time I get a paycheck at my part-time job, I put a few dollars away to donate to organizations. Five dollars to us can mean a pot of gold to someone else."
Micayla shares with us; "I grew up with a fabulous role model, my sister. She taught me so much, and without her I honestly don't think I'd be anywhere near where I am today. It's outstanding to think one person you look up to could do so much for you, give you such an image to live by. I feel like I have a good head on my shoulders, and I would love to be someone for younger and even older girls to see as a role model. Girls should be independent and strong, and when you have someone there to help lead you in the right direction, things don't seem quite so hard. I love where I stand, and I'd love to be a solid foundation for girls to look up to."
Micayla also tell us: "I have big dreams, and I never seem to walk away with my head down. If what I shoot for doesn't come to me in the end, I know I can always try again. The best advice I've ever received is to never think your dreams are too far-fetched. Anyone can achieve what they want; you just need the right motivation. I live my life by one rule, and that is to make it count. I have fun without getting myself in trouble, and reach for the stars, because I don't see how anyone could be happy knowing they could have gotten something better. Life is about reaching your full potential, and I've realized this. Now it's time to reflect it to everyone else, so maybe they too can raise the bar high."
