Qatrain 4 Students (q4s)

A project that is aimed at supporting disabled students in their inclusion in mainstream education and VET started on 1st October 2009

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Jan 15, 2010 -
Since 1st October 2009 five organizations from four European countries set the beginning of a new project that will support disabled students in order to fully and effectively participate in mainstream VET. Teachers and trainers also can find appropriate information about the reasonable adjustments they can make in their teaching practices.

The project is partially funded by Lifelong Learning Programme of the European Commission. Its duration is 24 months and the coordinator of the project is University of Worcester, the UK. The  other partners are Marie Curie Association, Bulgaria; University of Plovdiv “Paisii Hilendarski”; BCD Ltd., Turkey; and PROODOS Training Center, Greece.
Those who can take advantage of the project are: disabled young students; teachers/trainers of young disabled students; parents, friends, and relatives of disabled students.

Q4S will develop an online resource that will help disabled learners to identify potential barriers to their development. It will also enable them to plan learning strategies to overcome the difficulties they may face.
Within Q4S a Web-based Resource will be set up. It will offer additional support in related activities such as negotiating the provision of reasonable adjustments and deciding when, and how best, to disclose your disability.
The Resource will be searchable in terms of ‘functional skills’ and ‘disabilities’, with additional material being transferred and adapted from related projects to ensure that it fully meets the needs of its target users.

Planned key results of the project
•   Research and needs analysis report - available in EN, BG, TR, GR
•   Q4S Web-based Resource – available in EN, BG, TR, GR
•   Promotional Guides – with information and guidance on issues such as usability and functionality of the Web-based Resource
•   Case Studies from Q4S – describing students’ experiences who effectively participate in mainstream education and VET
•   Q4S Challenge Guides – ICT/e-learning, Practicals, Group Work, Visual Learning Activities
•   Self-Review Profiler – that enables students to identify their needs and to develop their employability and personal skills
