In a review released today, Televisions.com gives its appraisal of JVC’s XV-BP 1 Blu-ray player. The review combines measurements from the team’s laboratory with subjective picture-quality evaluation, giving the player an overall score of 8.0 out of 10 points. The reviewer awarded plus-points, for example, for the player’s economical power consumption and excellent picture quality with HD content. Televisions.com also praises the XV-BP 1’s bit stream audio output. But criticism goes to the player’s weak DVD de-interlacing, as well as to the poor selection of picture controls and multimedia features. One reviewer said: “This JVC outputs excellent video and audio signals, but lets the user down in terms of extra features. If all you want your player to do is play back discs, you’ll be in good hands with the XV-BP 1, but multimedia fans should look elsewhere.”
