STX Envision TR
Design Golf will be stocking the new STX Envision TR & the new ProFit series from the beginning of February.

Andrew Ash MD of Designer Golf Ltd started out as a Custom Build Clubmaker a little over 12 years ago, but soon became obsessed with the short game and more importantly with the science of putting.
Realising that by using the correct measurements and component parts it was very easy to make clubs that would hit the ball longer and straighter and to arrange for players to have lessons if there was a swing defect. But it was a totally different problem helping players to score better, which, if he could achieve this, would add even more credibility to his business.
To begin with he studied the players who were recognized as being good putters, players like Max Faulkner, Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus and latterly Phil Mickelson and discovered that they all had a similar putting action. He then discovered that not all players see the same picture when looking at the ball, so using a laser device to ascertain accuracy in alignment, he can then makes the necessary adjustments. He is passionate about putter fitting, counterbalancing and having a square to square putting stroke.
The putter itself is also very important and needs to give good feedback to the player. Ash favours putters with rubber inserts, which stop the ball jumping off the face when the ball is “hit” rather than “stroked” and was delighted when STX reappeared in the UK, offering many really good fitting options.
Sam Snead famously said “ If only I could putt… “. Well that applies to the greater majority of all players, including tour pro’s, who, if they availed themselves of a couple of lessons, might just win a few more tournaments. It’s no good being able to read the line if you can’t then putt along it. Likewise how many 10 handicap amateurs could be low single figures if they could putt, or 20 handicappers be in single figures?
