Jan. 14, 2010 - PRLog -- New Horizons… New Destinations…New Discoveries is the theme for the first ever National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) Aerospace Systems Conference (ASC) to take center stage at the LAX Sheraton Gateway Hotel in Los Angeles, California, February 5-10, 2010. Hosted by the NSBE Alumni Extension (AE), the NSBE-ASC was first conceptualized by members of the Aerospace and Space Special Interest Groups (SIG) in 2006. By 2007 the NSBE Alumni Extension Executive Board approved the conference objectives and agenda. With almost three years in the planning the NSBE-ASC conference planning committee is ready to unveil history in the making with this ground breaking technical conference that rivals AIAA and IEEE, to recognize African-American impacts and contributions to the Aerospace and Aviation Industries.

The conference theme, “New Horizons…New Destinations…New Discoveries” references the great spirit of adventure that lies within the aerospace industry and the constant opportunity to fly higher, explore further, and create that which has never been before.  In all sectors of aeronautics and astronautics, opportunities abound, from new aircraft, upgrades to existing aircraft, to space missions that have been dreamed of for decades.  The objective for the NSBE Aerospace Systems Conference is to attract well over 500 of the best and brightest minds in aerospace - a historic gathering of engineers, scientists, managers, and professors, to use this conference as a forum for the exchange of technical ideas, showcase company’s new developments and to share best practices.

The NSBE-ASC conference planning committee is excited to present a full agenda including, technical tours, youth educational outreach, technical workshops and training, a golf tournament, exhibitor trade show and nightly entertainment including Aviation and Space Movies, Mardi Gras on the Moon, Hailing Frequencies and more!

NSBE-ASC will also explore innovative developments in Aerospace and Aviation through a series of panel discussion and over 50 technical paper presentations. Subjects to be discussed include: Commercial Aviation, General Aviation, National Security/Military Aviation, Ultralight/Sport Aircraft, Aerodynamics, Space Exploration, Space Commerce, Space Tourism, Space Colonization, Space Science, National Security/Military Space Systems, Avionics Software, Systems Engineering, Ground Launch Facilities, Ground Recovery Facilities, Test Facilities and Simulation Facilities.

The NSBE-ASC features a stellar lineup of keynote addresses such as Dr. Wanda M. Austin - President and Chief Executive Officer of The Aerospace Corporation, Dr. Wesley Harris – Associate Provost at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Dr. Julian M. Earls - Executive in Residence at the Nance College of Business Administration at Cleveland State University in Cleveland, Ohio, Dr. Allan Terry Morris - past national spokesperson for the Combined Federal Campaign, Lt. Colonel Winston Campbell - United States Air Force to just name a few.

The NSBE-ASC will honor individuals that have made outstanding contributions to the aerospace industry during the Celestial Torch Awards (CTA). This is NSBE’s first industry specific recognition event that will serve as a complement to NSBE’s highest awards program, the Golden Torch Awards, which are presented at NSBE’s Annual Conventions.
