(HOUSTON, TX) Gulf Hydrocarbon, the premier provider of
biodiesel to the petroleum industry, announces the arrival of biodiesel at Buckeye Terminals, LLC’s terminal in Hartford, IL, located at 220 East Hawthorne Street.
Gulf Hydrocarbon’
At the Buckeye terminal, Gulf Hydrocarbon can provide the biodiesel to create the popular B11 blend, making the most of the tax-free credit provided by the state of Illinois for any fuels utilizing more than 11% biodiesel in their blend. Additional blends, including B2, B5, B20, B50, and B99, can be done. Gulf Hydrocarbon will post its biodiesel prices on DTN, OPIS and Bloomberg. Distributors and truckers can also use the federal “blenders tax credit,” a $1.00 per gallon credit, as allowed by the Renewable Fuels Standard Act 2, that President Bush enacted in 2008. At the time of distribution of this press release the Renewable Fuel Standard Act 2 has not been renewed for 2010, although industry analysts expect the credit to be renewed once Congress goes back to session in 2010.
Jess Hewitt, President, Gulf Hydrocarbon, has this to say about the pending legislation, “Based on the 73 automated terminals in the United States right now, we need to triple the amount of terminals to meet the RFS2 goal of 850 million gallons of biodiesel production for 2010. Distribution network is the bottleneck. Gulf Hydrocarbon is equipped to aid in the RFS2 goals by distributing approximately 38 million gallons collectively between our terminals throughout the Gulf area and Midwest.“
Jess will be speaking about biodiesel, the Renewable Fuel Standards Act 2 and the economic impact at the 2010 Energy Expo, January 21, 2010 in Brownsville, TX.
All Gulf Hydrocarbon biodiesel at Buckeye’s Hartford, IL terminal meets the latest ASTM D6751 standards. Biodiesel, a non-toxic and biodegradable energy source, is a clean-burning alternative to petroleum diesel made from renewable domestic resources such as plant oils, animal fats and recycled grease and kitchen oil. Agrifuels, such as biodiesel, perform essentially the same as petroleum-based diesel, with one major difference- biodiesel significantly reduces harmful hydrocarbon emissions and greenhouse gases, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by as much a 78% as compared to petroleum diesel.
