For as long as they can remember, Dr. Chris Travis and George Abbott Clark have been devoted to fly-fishing. From practicing on rooftops, parks and residential streets, they have truly become "hooked on the fly". From these humble beginnings, Chris and George have now become world-class fly-fisherman with a common love for the environment.
Established in 2008, HOOKED on the Fly's mission is to experience nature and adventure while promoting conservation. As seen through the camera lens while fly-fishing, they attempt to capture the soul, art, science and magic of fly-fishing.
One goal of their Sportsman Channel series, is to profile areas where fly-fishing is special, especially beautiful, and must be protected. Episodes will include discussions about what is being done to protect the resource, and what still needs to be done. They affirm that everyone can easily help promote ecologically sound practices for a sustainable resource; however, this is not their only focus. HOOKED on the Fly also present you with world-class, fly-fishing films bringing us into nature's meditative majesty as well as its excitement. The images you will see will renew your soul by remembering the rivers past, while celebrating our present and future course, with family and friends. Fly-fishing connects us to ourselves, our earth, and each other.
Another uniqueness of the HOOKED on The Fly show is the music that will be feature including the works of Michael Lattanzi, Mercury Rev, Tangerine Dream, Franz Jackson and Jeff Pollack just to name a few!
Clark tells us "We are thrilled to have all of these great musicians join us as well as support from The Federation of Fly Fishers, RIO, Exofficio, Loop and Mcloudveil. This is going to be a must see series for fly- fishers and nature lovers alike"
"HOOKED on the Fly" premiered nationally on December 29, 2009, and will continue to be broadcast on the Sportsman Channel five days a week.
