Jan. 13, 2010 - PRLog -- What’s a cowpuppie?

That’s what website entrepreneur Ron Underwood would like to know.  In the meantime, his newly launched website www.cowpuppie.com is attracting a variety of web browsers, drawn in part by the novelty of the name.  But also it’s rich product mix, everything from pickled food stuffs and fruit bars, to popcorn, low-carb products and even clothing replete with the cowpuppie logo.

“Our goal was to provide an online source for healthy, unique, and hard to find snack foods,” explains Ron.  Judging from the initial reaction to the site, he’s doing that---and more.  “We’ve had several thousand visitors just in the few weeks the site has been live.”

A prime site focus is selling as many diabetic-friendly snacks as we can notes Ron.  He has been a type 1 diabetic for 34 years, and realizes just how hard finding sugar-free or low sugar products can be.  “Our line of pickled products, everything from eggs to olives, is getting heavy traffic.”

It was the online marketing of pickled products that first piqued Ron’s interest in launching an Internet sales site.  “These pickled products not only taste great, but have little to no sugar, and for a diabetic that’s very important.”

The term “cowpuppie” originated with a discussion Ron had with his brother, and at the time was the name of a local country and western band.  “They spelled it differently,” he recalls.  “But we always liked it and thought it was catchy.”  Ron had just sold his local manufacturing business, Skilled Manufacturing, Inc., a firm he started and owned for 29 years.  But the twosome decided it wasn’t the right time to do an Internet business launch, and shelved the cowpuppie name and business idea.

Some 7 years later Ron happened to cross paths with a friend who was operating an online business.  Upon discussing pickled products and their potential for diabetics, he decided to start an online site promoting these and other healthy food and snack products

In deciding upon a name for the new business, he and partner Dianne Brown originated “Cowpuppie Country Products.”  That signaled the rebirth of “Cowpuppie.”

As for the future of cowpuppie.com, Ron and Dianne plan to keep adding healthy products and growing the overall website, while also pursuing wholesale clients to market their increasingly popular family of products

In the meantime,  keep checking the cowpuppie website for some fun product introductions.
