Jan. 13, 2010 - PRLog -- The recent cold weather could spell disaster for many outdoor digital signage systems, warn a leading supplier of LCD enclosures.

Armagard, manufacturers and suppliers of LCD enclosures have issued a warning for outdoor digital signage users to ensure their systems have adequate protection from the snow and cold weather.

The company, who supply protective enclosures for LCD and plasma screens for outdoor and hostile conditions, has said the cold weather has seen an increase many outdoor digital signage systems failing due to the extreme conditions.

One of the problems, they suggest, is that there with so many companies now producing outdoor digital signage systems and LCD enclosures -some are compromising on quality of design -. And it is these inferiors designed products that are beginning to fail during the cold spell.

‘It is important there is adequate heating and filtration systems in any enclosure or outdoor digital signage,’ says a spokesman for the company, ‘otherwise condensation can easily freeze inside the display and the resulting ice can permanently damage any LCD or plasma device.’

The company say there LCD enclosures are tested to -20 degrees centigrade and have seen several installs in deep-freezers.

‘It may seem like a good idea at the time but if companies opt for a cheaper alternative rather than a quality product they could be paying twice,’ added the Armagard spokesman.
