To help spread the health and wellness benefits of Yoga, Lexington Healing Arts Academy (LHAA) is hosting a free day of Yoga classes as part of Yoga Day USA, Saturday, January 23, 2010. This national celebration of Yoga brings together hundreds of Yoga teachers and schools throughout the United States to host free or low-cost workshops designed to meet the needs of their local communities. LHAA offers a full range of classes for the young and old, flexible and not so flexible, to athletes and couch potatoes:
9:00 AM-10:30 AM Yoga Flow
11:00 AM-12:15 PM Raja Yoga
12:30 PM-1:30 PM Meditation
2:00 PM-3:00 PM Sun Salutations
3:30 PM-4:30 PM FUNdamentals
5:00 PM-6:00 PM Happy & Healthy Backs
“LHAA is thrilled to open our doors to the community for everyone to try Yoga. This is an opportunity for those who have just thought about Yoga to come and try out a class and gives the more experienced Yoga practitioner a chance to visit our Yoga Center and meet our instructors,”
According to a 2008 Yoga Journal study, 15.8 million Americans practice Yoga and 14 million say that a doctor or therapist has recommended Yoga to improve their health. The benefits of Yoga are numerous and include stress management, increased flexibility and strength, improvement in heart health, reduction of cholesterol, and improved circulation.
LHAA will also be accepting donations for Doctors Without Borders, an international medical humanitarian organization that delivers emergency aid to people in need.
Lexington Healing Arts Academy is located at 272 Southland Drive in Lexington, Kentucky.
